Students Decide to Put Up or Shut Up

girlbluenotebookonwhitesm6Following my post last week, which noted that students should pitch in for their own college tuition and pay their parents back as if they were taking out a loan, check out this article in the Chicago Tribune. It talks about the high costs of college (no shock there), but also points out a new poll that claims 90% of high school seniors say they should pay for at least some college costs. Some? Well, it’s a step in the right direction. The article also notes that 62% of teens are actually saving for college. That number is pretty remarkable, considering my savings in high school amounted to a few dollars for a pack of Hostess mini- chocolate donuts and a hot chocolate. I was quite the health-conscious kiddo.

This was good to hear, as it’s starting to sound like more and more kids are looking less to their parents to finance their education and more to themselves. With tuition rising everywhere, parents need all the help they can get in taking on this huge expense.
