Photo Booth and the Gingerbread Man

I don’t tend to recommend not paying attention to your professor, losing your focus while writing an essay on Thoreau, or playing hooky on any responsibilities you might have lined up on any given day. However, Apple has a program that comes with their MacBooks that, for anyone who likes to document their life, is far too distracting if you feel like being distracted. Oh Photo Booth, how I wile away the hours with you.

For those of you not in the Apple loop, Photo Booth is a program whose icon is a tiny photo booth like those seen at movie theaters. The ones where you and a friend or three can squeeze behind a curtain and take head-shots with each other. They are popular with couples, BFF’s, and other relations. Making funny faces tends to be involved. Apple’s Photo Booth is the same idea–using your webcam you can take a high quality mirror image shot (or twenty) of yourself.

This DIY photo taking has made things easier in my life. For example, my cousin wanted to get some nice photos of himself to post on Match.com. But despite my repeated offers to act as a photographer, he wasn’t able to get totally narcissistic with someone else in the room. Enter Photo Booth. He could privately spend as much time as he wanted taking the perfect picture of himself to share with 500 of his closest strangers.

Of course, I do the same thing. Any time I want to document a moment spent at the local coffee shop or capture what I look like at three in the morning when I can’t sleep and am surfing StudentStuff so I can share it on Facebook or Twitter, I don’t need to bother with my digital camera and downloading pictures. Photo Booth does it all for me.

A picture is worth a thousand words though. With that, I now present how I spent three minutes not writing my essay on “Why Thoreau’s statement, ‘I went to the woods so I could live life deliberately’ is inspiring but unrealistic in this era.” It’s a photo essay compliments of Photo Booth. Enjoy!

Meet my gingerbread friend.

He's got a halo, which is kind of surprising for a cookie.

Bet I can make that halo into something else...

...like an imaginary head! Now, he's the Legend of Sleepy Hollow gingerbread man!

And if you have any Photo Booth photos of your own, remember that sharing is caring, and here at StudentStuff, we want to see your wacky shots!
