We Need a DJ (Hero) for the Party!
December 11, 2009 | Nathaniel
Hey, dude. Everyone’s comin’ over to my place. ‘Cause we got Guitar Hero! Best. Game. Ever.
Remember those days? Wasn’t even that long ago. But then there was Guitar Hero 2. And THAT was the best game ever. And then came Rock Band. The one-upper to your Guitar Hero came with a microphone? Now belt out them crazy beats and lyrics. Then Guitar Hero got creative and got some downloads and recruited heavy hitting super group Aerosmith…or was that Rockband? No, no, they had the Beatles return from the dead (mostly) to shut up that initial plastic guitar.
The point is that we’re all NOT throwing Rock Band or Guitar Hero parties anymore ‘cause why? Because this generation of college kids and game players get bored pretty quickly. Solution? New and different! Let’s face it: your parents used to throw parties with Pong. No joke.
Actually the solution to your gaming Attention Deficit Disorder lies in the latest music genre beat-following game: DJ Hero.
Yes, yes it’s made by the same folk who brought you the all-time-consuming and creativity-diminishing and song-playing-out guitar games but fear NOT! You shall soon become quickly bored with this game and play out all of the songs with classic songs mixed with contemporary smashes and underground hits. Marvin Gaye and Gorillaz mash up anyone?
Seems like the game is a pretty big deal. What with a release party studded with the likes of Eminem and Jay-Z this game promises to get you tons of people at your next video game influenced party and show off how many hours you drain into it.
Holy Moley. Turns out this game has been out since June. Why aren’t you already playing? Why aren’t there ridiculous videos of how ridiculously good you are at it all over youtube? Losing chances at dates with women cause you’ve got to beat your high score. God, it’s like Frogger all over again.
Or maybe you’re all playing already and I’m totally out of touch with the gaming college scene in general.
Definitely a possibility.
Anyhow, if there are any other video games you all want scoped out by yours truly, or you know, anything pertaining to you college kids and your “stuff,” don’t hesitate to ask.
Now, put down that darn turntable and study!
STUDY HARD!
Besides the next installment of this game will surely soon be out with all them awesome hip hop DJ’s from the eighties. Bizzy and Jazzy? It’s about time you two got here…

How about a Beatles’ dress up party where you can also play rock band to all of their songs all night long?
wait, that’s already been done.
I used to throw parties where my friends and I would play the original Street Fighter on my Xbox (I love me some free downloads). And then we’d get bored and play Metal Slug, which we’d beat, and then the night would devolve into more button-mashing antics. This was 4 or 5 years ago. Crap I’m old.
