Ping.fm: The Best Social Media Tool You’ve Never Heard Of

December 22, 2009 | VReitano

ping_fm“You’ve Got Mail.” Oh how that phrase has changed the way the world works! Now the phrase is not only you have mail, but you have followers, friends and subscribers. All these things work together to promote your online identity–basically who you are, your hopes and dreams, and any other status updates you wish to share with the world. So if you have all these networks, why should you go from app to app updating your various followers, friends and subcribers on your whereabouts when you can do it from one place.

That’s where Ping.fm comes in. Ping.fm is a service I recently discovered which allows you to update ALL your social networks from ANYWHERE–Web, mobile, via an application, or even via a text/mms message. It works in conjunction with TIME magazine’s gadget of the year: the Peek. It also works with any cell phone, any computer and any smart phone. Basically it works with everything you can think of, which is so mind blowing to me that I felt the need to repeat it!

This Web site, which allows you to sign up for free, even integrates with HootSuite, which I’ll get to in another post. It also shortens any URL you might wish to include in your status update, without dealing with Facebook’s annoying Captcha’s (at least they are annoying to me!). This site is the must needed essential for any social networker this year. I know it will save me at least an hour sending out each update, blog post, and interesting link.
