Sitting through long-winded speeches for a couple of hours in the sun on hard chairs and benches is not exactly a form of celebration that anyone enjoys. Graduation ceremonies are a tradition that brings in crowds by the hundreds, yet no one ever has fun at them. There is excitement in the air for the [...]

Looking like an injured animal while you dance is not going to draw the kind of attention you want. Wearing shoes that match your outfit is key, but wearing sky-scraper heels is just crazy. You may feel okay on the walk there, but getting home will be more torturous than climbing Mount Everest.

What’s the difference between college kids in the 1970s and us? Sadly, I’m not making a comparison of generational fashion. The difference is empathy. Apparently, “Generation Me” has far less of it than 20-somethings did 30 years ago. This idea isn’t new – there have been a few books claiming our generation to be the [...]
College students aren’t the only ones always looking for a reason to party; college savings plans love a good celebration too! Today, 5/29 Day, Charles Schwab is reminding parents to start saving money for their kids college education by investing in a 529 plan. Unfortunately, there don’t seem to be streamers, kazoos, or a rousing [...]
How would you react if after class one of your friends said “this paper is really going to f— up my GPA”? You’d probably glance right over the profanity, right? At Hind Community College, one student was punished for saying the f-word outside of class because a professor overheard him.

Soares’ story is all the rage right now, and it’s certainly an inspiring tale. However I can’t [...]
Helping teachers in and out of the classroom while applying themselves to their own studies is hard work; so, why aren’t graduate students given the right to unionize? Is it because they do not earn much money for their work? Frankly, being able to unionize seems like it would at least be a bit of compensation to earn for working for little pay. Take away the title “grad student” and the job is similar to that of an instructional assistant.
Facebook isn’t the only institution violating your privacy these days, my dear college students; your local state university – today Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, tomorrow perhaps the world – may be gearing up to know your whereabouts beyond the dining commons. Thanks to your handy Student ID, which is most famous for keeping track [...]
Separation of church and state – we’ve heard it before. Especially in public high schools, administrations usually try to keep any blatant display of religious affiliation as taboo.
Or was that just my school?
Apparently, because it turns out Greenwood High School in Indiana has been having student-led prayers at graduation for years. It used to be [...]
